Donald Trump Isn’t Funny Anymore

When Donald Trump announced he was running for the presidency in June of last year, many scoffed and even laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation.  What are the chances that a mega-billionaire will appeal to the “99%” whose votes he will need to win? Very slim.

Then something odd happened.  People started supporting Trump.  Fellow Republicans that had laughed at his announcement were now commenting on how the United States needs a person who is not a career politician.  His honesty was so refreshing and much needed in the White House.

Remember that wall? That absurd and ludicrous “Great Wall of America”?  Yeah, according to many people, it is not so ridiculous and unrealistic now. Donald Trump was the end of a punch line back in June.  Now he has turned into a realistic candidate for the presidency with his lead in the polls in both Iowa and New Hampshire.

Donald Trump needs to be stopped because what started out as a joke to most people has turned into a reality.  He needs to be stopped because he has no actual policies, just a bucket of insults.  He needs to be stopped because he is a misogynist and a bigot hiding under the phrase “they all love me”.  He needs to be stopped because America will not be “great again” under Donald Trump, no matter how many times his campaign prints that phrase on a hat.

The following are statements from Donald Trump:

On global warming:

“The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”  —- Twitter, 2012

“NBC News just called it ‘The Great Freeze’ — coldest weather in years. Is our country still spending money on the GLOBAL WARMING HOAX?” — Twitter, 2014

On women:

“If I were running The View, I’d fire Rosie. I mean, I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers, I’d say, ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’ We’re all a little chubby, but Rosie’s just worse than most of us.” — Entertainment Tonight, 2006

“I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.” — The View, 2006

“Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog, and will do it again — just watch. He can do much better!” — Twitter, 2012

On race relations:

“I have a great relationship with the Blacks. I’ve always had a great relationship with the Blacks.” — Interview with Albany’s Talk Radio 1300, 2011
